with an outstanding trust
In 2015, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust became only the second NHS Trust in the country – and the first in the North of England – to be rated Outstanding by The Care Quality Commission. This is the highest rating awarded by the health and social care regulator, and reflects the extraordinary lengths we go to, to deliver the best patient outcomes and a great experience for the people who work with us.
As a nurse at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust:
You’ll be developed throughout your time with us by dedicated training professionals. You’ll have access to a wide range of learning opportunities – both online and in the clinical environment – as well as state of the art facilities, including seminar rooms, an IT suite, a library, skills labs and an on-site simulation suite. You’ll also have access to CPD funding to help take your career in the right direction.
You’ll be supported to develop the competence and confidence you need as an effective, independent healthcare professional. You’ll benefit from classroom-based training, clinical skills assessments, an allocated Preceptor within your field and protected time for self-directed studies.
You’ll be inspired to build on our impressive track record of improving outcomes and experience for patients and their families. Our Nursing Accreditation Systems provide a robust framework in describing clinical care standards and offers you the chance to get involved in improving clinical standards of care.
You’ll be empowered to design changes in care delivery and measure the impact of those changes. Through our Quality Improvement work we want to become the safest organisation in the NHS through delivering safe, clean and personal care to every patient, every time. We are determined to lower our mortality rates and ensure that fewer patients experience harm whilst in our care. So far our nurses have helped to achieve an 80% reduction in C-Difficile, a 70% reduction in healthcare-acquired pressure ulcers and a 56% reduction in cardiac arrests. Giving our nurses more influence has also resulted in high levels of staff and patient satisfaction.
You’ll be cared for with a wide range of health and wellbeing initiatives that ensure the first class culture of care we provide for our patients is also readily available to our people. Flexible working and an on-site nursery make childcare easy. Those wanting to get more active can sign up for a wide range of exercise classes and take advantage of discounted membership at a range of popular gyms.
You’ll be rewarded with a variety of salary sacrifice schemes, minimising the hassle and saving you money on everything from your car to your mobile phone. You’ll also enjoy a working environment that’s every bit as good as the care we provide. We’ve recently invested more than £200 million to create modern, spacious wards and departments on our main hospital site.
You’ll be part of something bigger. We have paved the way for excellence in Integrated Care and in July 2016 took the pioneering step to form one of the first Integrated Care Organisations. We now provide adult social care services alongside our established healthcare services, which has given us the chance to develop better, more joined up ways of working that deliver improved outcomes for the local community.
