Band 5 nurses care for individual patients as well as specific groups – and support the care of everyone on the unit. Here, you’ll assess care needs and develop, put in place and evaluate the right care programmes for each patient. With your experience, you’ll also be able to take a hand in managing and organising work, while supporting and developing junior team members, basic learners and unregistered staff.
As a Nurse Practitioner, you’ll be an expert in every aspect of nursing care, from admission all the way through to discharge. You’ll support your ward/unit manager and keep everything running smoothly in their absence. Every day, you’ll balance caring for patients with leading nursing and support teams to deliver the highest standards of care in line with Trust policies and procedures. More than that, you’ll use clinical audits and research findings, together with your own supervision of practice and teaching, to make sure we never stop improving and using our resources wisely.
Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse
Part of a multi-disciplinary team in the community, you’ll deliver specialist services with confidence and ease. But as well as using all the skill and resources at your disposal to deliver for clients and carers, you’ll take charge of caseload management. You’ll also support our learning culture; teaching staff at every level as you share best practice and act as a named supervisor.
Our Ward Managers know exactly how to assess, plan and implement every aspect of nursing care. As one of them, you’ll lead, support and develop a team of nurses to offer the highest standards of evidence-based, patient centric care. Managing rotas, appraisals, recruitment activity and supervising learners, it will be your challenge to ensure all care is delivered in line with policies and procedures. But you won’t stop there. Using all the information at your disposal – research, audits, observations – you’ll take every opportunity to improve how we care for patients.
Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
This role is all about delivering excellence every day, in everything you do. You’ll hold yourself (and your team) to high standards of patient care as you take full responsibility for your clinical area. Experienced in every element of patient care, you’ll be confident assessing, diagnosing, treating, advising, referring and discharging patients within set guidelines. You’ll also be able to offer specialist advice to patients and relatives as well as members of the wider team. Beyond that, you’ll manage rotas and recruitment, oversee learners and embrace a culture of efficiency, empathy and continuous improvement.
