with an outstanding trust
Acting Ward Manager, Trauma Unit
"When I qualified in 2012, I joined Salford Royal as a staff nurse in neurosurgery. I was soon seconded into a Nurse Practitioner role, which inspired me to take on that role permanently. And from there, I’ve since been seconded in to the role of Acting Ward Manager on the Trauma Unit.
"As the lead Trauma Unit for Greater Manchester, we’re always very busy and the job I do is extremely fast-paced. We look after patients who have often suffered multiple, complex and serious major trauma injuries. I love the challenge; moving ward and having the opportunity to manage a new team has really helped me to develop both personally and professionally.
"Before, I was working actively on the ward, providing direct patient care. But as Acting Ward Manager, my role is less clinical and more about building a strong ward team, coordinating our efforts and working towards achieving Safe Clean and Personal (SCAPE) accreditation for the unit."
