Staff Nurse, Heart Care Unit
"I’ve been a nurse at Salford Royal for almost 14 years now. I originally got into the nursing because I’ve always cared for people and I wanted to look after those who needed my help most.
"I now work three 12-hour shifts a week on the Heart Care Unit and my job is very fast-paced. We look after some very poorly people on the unit and often have to support patients and their relatives through palliative care, which can be difficult but is a part of my role that I also find very rewarding.
"To be a nurse you need to have patience, be a caring person and also be very positive. It’s important that you have stamina and good organisational skills. If you want to help and look after people, it’s definitely the most rewarding job and I feel so privileged that it’s the job I do."
